Server
Rules and Guidelines
Including general server
rules and guidelines, class specific rules, and general character guidelines.
General
Module Features
Domain,
Feat, and Spell Changes
Some abilites and powers have been changed in this module from what
is standard in NWN.
Subraces
We offer a number of the most common Forgotten Realms subraces as playable
PC races; see what adjustments are made by the subrace system for each
available type. This section also has some brief information on the
typical traits of each subrace.
See the Server Rules and Guidelines
for lists of which ones we do and do not offer, and our reasons.
Crafting
We use Vulcano's 3E Crafting system.
Food
Items, Skinning Animals, and Fishing
Go hunting and fishing, skin or fillet your catch for food and even
possibly some crafting items. Learn about Skinning Knives, Fillet Knives,
and fishing equipment.
Resting
Restrictions
There are some restrictions applied to resting.
Death
and Dying
We use a Fugue Plane and resurrection system. Simply respawning is
not an option.
The
Module's Lobby Area
About the module's lobby, and the available starting areas.
Scripted
Quests
Yes, we have those.
Player
Character Residences
Personal residences may be awarded to a player's character(s). We
award residences to consistent role-players, and we also look for those
who contribute positively to the community.
Persistent
Storage of Gold and Items
Persistent storage containers are placed in all player residences,
and in all player-run guild buildings. Both items and gold may be stored
over server resets in persistent storage containers.
Additionally, any PC may deposit gold in an individual account through
an NPC "banker".
Seamless
Transitions
Most of our outdoor, above ground areas use Jaga's Seamless Transition
System. You will not see the blue BioWare transition triggers in these
areas. Instead, simply walk into the open edge of the area, and you
will automatically be transitioned to the corresponding point in the
next area.
Random
Gear on Creatures
Tired of seeing the same club on every goblin, and the same armor,
shield, and longsword on every orc warrior? Many of our monsters spawn
with random gear generated from lists that make sense for that particular
creature.
Stable
Ownership and Administation
Since its inception in February of 2003, The Vast has been owned,
administered, and built by Algernon's Ghost and Taraxa Lionstooth. This
history lends the module a consistently cohesive design and vision not
found in most long-term persistent world projects.
Special Player Tokens, Tools, and Functions
Emotes
and Die Rolls
We have a full range
of character emotes available as well as die roll functions. You may
access these from your character's customized Crafting Radial Menu when
playing in the module. The die roll functions are taken from the DMFI's
tools.
The
Healing Ability and Medicine Bags
Bringing your friends back from the brink, and curing poisons and
diseases.
Ranger
Tracking Ability
If your PC possesses two or more ranger levels, he will be able to
attempt to "track" nearby creatures. This skill is accessed
via the custom Crafting Radial Menu when playing in the module.
The PC
Combat Practice Tool
This tool allows you to
make your character begin fighting Thin Air (an invisible object), and
appear as though he is sparring, or practicing his combat skills. This
function is not dangerous to use. This optional tool is available in
the module's lobby.
Combat
Subdual Mode
Subdual is available, but only in some guild areas, or by direct DM
approval and intervention. We use Rocc's Subdual System to handle this,
which offers full subdual and sparring modes. Keep in mind that we are
not a PvP server, thus the very limited availability of this system.
The
Combat XP Stop Token
Possible limitations to combat XP.
The
Mithril Star Token
